written by Ria Kyra Estrellado

1. The "Scie-fi" Genre.

Science fiction k-dramas have since become popular in k-dramas. However, "Duty After School" differs from the other sci-fi Kdramas in that the bulk of Korean sci-fi dramas are about zombies, including "All of Us Are Dead" and "Train to Busan," which differs from "Duty After School" since it concentrates on aliens. The Speheres, as they name it, is an unexplained extraterrestrial that emerges in the sky and then falls. The students are fighting against the Spheres and its sub-divisions.

2. High School Themed.

Using a high school theme in a drama is one of the most efficient ways to keep viewers from becoming bored. The aesthetics of this high school themed drama are what make the entire picture stand out including the classroom, uniforms, rooftops, and many other areas of the school. Not to mention the entire look of the set, which makes the drama more appealing. Many K-Dramas with "high school" themes have already achieved tremendous popularity. Therefore, it is not impossible for 'Duty After School' to attain the same level of success.

3. No Main Character.

Throughout the series, There are no Major characters. Each student has their own story, and their screen time is likewise equal. Unlike other dramas, whereas the main character is already introduced in the first few episodes. All of the characters in this series have their own plots and growth across the episodes. However, there are some drawbacks, such as not knowing who is who in some of the situations because there are so many of them.

4. Reliable Lieutenant

Despite the fact that there is no major character in the drama, Lieutenant Lee's character shines out. His character is well-written. He's a great captain, guiding the students, yet he's also smart and very strategic. Although he appears intimidating and as if he is making the students suffer, he is really a compassionate Lieutenant whose priority is to keep the students and his co-workers safe no matter what. He portrays the role perfectly throughout the drama.

5. The Importance Of Teamwork

The importance of teamwork was also emphasized. This K-drama series demonstrates how disastrous the outcomes will be if a team does not work as one. The students began off selfish and lacking in collaboration, but as the drama progressed, they realized so many things about themselves as a team via their experiences as military students, thanks to Lieutenant Lee and his companion, Sergeant Won Bin.

Duty After School currently has 6 episodes. The second part of the series will start airing on April 28, 2023.
